Corporate Finance – Transactor

Our client a top tier Investment Bank is looking for a Mid Level Transactor (3 – 5 years Corporate Finance experience) to join their Corporate Finance and Advisory Group. The candidate must ideally have had some exposure to M & A deals.

Involved in both the execution of deals in Corporate Finance, Advisory and Mergers & Acquisitions, and in the origination of deals in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.

• Able to learn quickly and apply knowledge to a variety of situations;
• Able to add value to the implementation of transactions through an understanding of valuations, JSE and SRP rules and the Companies Act;
• Able to present ideas to CEOs and senior officials of clients;
• Able to add value to transactions for the benefit of the client through knowledge of the subject, innovation and lateral thinking;
• Able to manage ongoing client liaison and to build relationships with clients.

• Must have a strong track record of achievement in previous work experience and/or academically.
• Have good interpersonal skills and be comfortable communicating at all levels.
• Must ideally have a commercial degree with an exceptional academic track record,
• A minimum of 3 – 5 years Corporate Finance, Investment Banking or Private Equity.
• Exposure to M & A deals would be advantageous
• Strong financial modelling skills.
• Track record ideally of covering deals in SA and cross border in Sub-Saharan Africa.
• A Chartered Accountancy or CFA qualification is preferable.
• ACCOUNTING- must be able to read, understand and interpret a set of annual financial statements.
• LEGAL – A working knowledge of the law of contracts.
• TAXATION – An understanding of the taxation of companies, financial institutions and shareholders.
• VALUATIONS – An understanding of the theories and practices of company valuations.
